Incredible India

India! The name which evokes a plethora of adventures, heritage, cultures and traditions, is an abode to billions of people. From the heavenly stretch of Kashmir to the crimson sunsets of Kanyakumari, from the beatific Rann of Kachch to the serenity of the Arunachal, India has the spectacular of places to wander which runs unparallel. It is one of the oldest civilizations of the world and is one of the most popular countries which attract tourists from all corners of the globe.

What makes this country unique

The diversity experienced with respect to scenic beauty, heritage, culture, arts, cuisines, languages and so on. It is almost impossible to imagine a unifying thread which binds these together and not think of India.

And the beauty that envelopes each corner of the place becomes difficult to reflect upon through mere words. When one looks at The Taj Mahal, the symbol of love, one realizes that it entails an ode, with rhythms of the glory of the Mughal era. It has been described as a “teardrop of eternity” by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The stunningly white marble with extraordinary craftsmanship allures one to a euphoric state of existence.

Ancient Era

India is a place notable for its historical monuments. The Ajanta Caves of Aurangabad, the numerous architectural excellences like the Udaipur fort and the Golconda fort, the Buland Darwaja at Fatehpur Sikri, brings forth a rich cultural heritage and history. These monuments stand ageless almost defying the brutal passage of time. The Qutub Minar, a UNESCO world heritage site, is made of red sandstone and marble. The intricacies of the artistic brilliance of such places brings forth the magnificence of the medieval era. It is almost unbelievable to traverse these pages of history in the present age.

One would also experience a calm and peace of the mind while travelling in India. Even here the diversity is worth remembering. Varanasi, the city which blossoms on the banks of the holy Ganga is believed to be one of the oldest living cities in the country. For ages, the place has attracted people mainly because of its air of holiness which breathes in the entire city. Again, the serenity and utter content of the heart can be felt when one simply sits on the floor of The Golden Temple in Amritsar. The temple feeds thousands of people everyday in the name of God. Perhaps spirituality never had a purer reflection than here. One can also not forget how thousands of people offer namaz on the auspicious day of Eid in Jama Masjid at Delhi. It is one of the largest mosques in the country.

Out of the embrace of the claustrophobia of a mundane life, India has a treasure of snow-clad mountain ranges and innumerable hill stations which transports us to a place of ethereal tranquility.

The most beautiful of them would be Jammu and Kashmir which is popularly described as the “heaven on earth”. Srinagar, the capital city is a paradise in itself. The picturesque houseboats, the quaint shikaras which gives a pleasant ride on the Dal Lake, the maddening fragrance of the roses of countless hues at the Mughal Gardens, Kashmir is like a dream, a dream which one lives in all its exuberance.

Tourist Destinations

The majestic hill stations in India are a major tourist attraction. The quietness amidst the mist-coated hills provide an escape from our busy lives. The Himalayan Mountain range exhibits a land of fairytale with the verdant mountains, quintessentially beautiful valleys and refreshing fountains. We have the “Queen of Hills” Darjeeling, Mussoorie, Nainital, Shimla, Gangtok to name a few of them. The lush greenery, the astonishingly wondrous scenic beauty and the magically woven mountainous roads take us to a world of repose where perhaps every peak tells a story and every little house atop sings a tune which stays in our hearts forever.

If the greenery wasn’t enough, India has an exceptionally panoramic wonders of the rugged paths of Leh Ladakh, the larger-than-life statue of the Buddha, and the warmest of blue color in the Pangong Tso. The temperature can get extreme yet watching the night sky as if one is experiencing the galaxies from the Earth is a memory to be lived till the end of time. It imparts a warmth that will ensure its existence for a lifetime.

Apart from the diversely marvelous places to wander, India is also a land known for its cuisines. Travelling and exploring a land remains incomplete without experiencing its food. A plate full of momos in the wintery chill of Sikkim, a platter full of melting in the mouth kebabs reminiscing the Awadhi flavor at Lucknow, the Hyderabadi biriyani, the heavenly sweets from Kolkata, the spicy and age-old street food in Delhi will import one to a certain sumptuousness unexplainable and leave the taste buds wanting for more.

India is incredible, no wonder. The exploration, discovery of the country is bound to reward one with an experience of a lifetime. And just like Wordsworth carried the melodious tune of the “solitary reaper” in his heart even after her voice faded out, India too will hum an emotion into you which is incomparable and which will carry its remnants even if you have traversed the entire world.
